Will Christmas Come To Santa Monica This December?

A hearing on the Santa Monica Nativity Scenes Committee's Motion for a Prelimiinary Injunction has been scheduled for November 19, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles. The purpose of the motion is to seek an order from the Court requiring the City to allow the Nativity displays to be exhibited in Palisades Park this year as the lawsuit moves forward.

"It is always in the public's interest to prevent one from violating another's constitutional rights," said William J. Becker, Jr., lead counsel for the Plaintiff Committee. "We believe the Christmas tradition of displaying the Nativity scenes as the Committee has done every year for 30 years and others had for 30 years before that shouldn't be interrupted while the Court decides this case."
